The Afya Bora Consortium aims to contribute to health systems strengthening in African partner countries by implementing a leadership training program targeting African and U.S. health professionals. The Afya Bora (“better health” in Swahili) fellowship model will focus on training leaders for HIV/AIDS prevention, care and research program.

Must be citizen of U.S., Kenya, Botswana, Uganda or Tanzania and have an MD or MBChB with a MMed, MPH or master’s degree in related field.

The AIF Clinton Fellowship for Service gives a select group of young American professionals the opportunity to serve with Indian non-governmental organizations for 10 months. Fellows work in the three pillar areas of AIF: public health, education and livelihoods.

U.S. citizens or permanent residents who are at least 21 years of age and will have completed an undergraduate bachelor’s degree prior to starting this program.

The American Women's Hospitals Service provides small grants, up to $1,500, for assistance with transportation costs (e.g., airfare, train fare) connected with pursuing medical studies in an off-campus setting where the medically neglected will benefit.

Boren scholarships and fellowships provide unique funding opportunities for U.S. undergraduate and graduate students to add an important international and language component to their educations.

U.S. citizen enrolled or applying to a graduate degree program at an accredited U.S. university.

The Medical Student Rotation provides financial support for U.S. medical students from populations underrepresented in medicine to complete a clinical or clinical research oncology rotation. The Resident Travel Award (RTA) provides financial support for residents from populations underrepresented in medicine to attend ASCO's Annual Meeting. This award will allow the recipients to travel to the 2014 ASCO Annual Scientific Meeting, where they will have an opportunity to meet oncologists and to learn more about the career possibilities in oncology.

To qualify, applicants must be enrolled in an MD or DO, U.S. medical school program and be of an underrepresented population as defined by the program eligibility criteria. To qualify for RTA, applicants must be enrolled in an ACGME-accredited residency program required for future training in a cancer-related subspecialty (e.g., internal medicine considering med/onc, surgery considering surg/onc) and be of an underrepresented population as defined by the program eligibility criteria. All candidates must be U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals or permanent residents.

The fellowship honors and supports the graduate educations of 30 new Americans each year with tuition and living expenses that can total as much as $90,000 over two academic years. New Americans are permanent residents or naturalized citizens or children of naturalized citizen parents.

The Albert Schweitzer Fellowship helps hundreds of graduate students each year dedicate their time and service to helping others. The Chicago Area Schweitzer Fellows Program is a one-year interdisciplinary fellowship program focused on community service, leadership development and reflection.

Any student enrolled at least part-time for the current academic year in a health-related, graduate-level, degree-granting program in the greater Chicago area is welcome to apply.

Seed Global Health's mission is to promote and support new generations of U.S. health professionals to serve as global health educators and work within countries facing critical human healthcare resource shortages. Their greater goal is to create sustainable solutions to strengthen health systems.

Medical volunteers will include U.S. board-eligible or board-certified doctors in core specialties and nursing volunteers who have completed a BNS/MPH, MSN, NP, DRN or PHD and have a minimum number of three years of both clinical and teaching experience. Core specialties for doctors are expected to include internal medicine, pediatrics (and medicine/pediatrics), family medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, general surgery or psychiatry.

The SAPHIR program is a yearlong training program in comprehensive HIV prevention research for U.S. medical students and residents. Trainees will participate in a structured program of didactic education and practical research in one of the major fields of HIV prevention (behavioral prevention, biomedical prevention, antiretroviral therapy, epidemiology or basic/translational science). Research sites are located in Lima, Peru and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Medical students must have completed the required third-year clerkships to be eligible and may participate between the third and fourth year of medical school. Applicants who have just completed their residency program but have not begun a fellowship may also be considered. Language proficiency in Spanish or Portuguese is recommended and considered an asset but is not required.

Global Citizenship Fellows work with the U.S. Fund for UNICEF Program and Community Engagement Division in a number of U.S. cities. The fellowship is a highly-selective, full-time, 13-month program that prepares diverse, committed and globally-minded individuals for effective leadership in public service.

Undergraduate degree and/or equivalent experience; professional or academic background in advocacy, education, civic engagement, international affairs or related fields. Must have a demonstrated interest and knowledge of children's rights and international issues as well as a commitment to public service. Must possess current and valid U.S. work authorization.

The Global Health Fellows Program is a five-year cooperative agreement with the U.S. Agency for International Development. It seeks to improve the effectiveness of USAID population, health and nutrition programs.

U.S. citizenship or permanent resident and master's or other advanced degree in public health or a related field.

The World Health Organization (WHO), as the leader in global public health issues, is committed to building future leaders in public health. WHO's Internship Programme offers a wide range of opportunities for students to gain insight in the technical and administrative programmes of WHO.

Enrolled in a degree program in a graduate school (second university degree or higher) both at the time of application and during the internship. Have completed at least three years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution toward the completion of a degree. At least 20 years old. Possess a first degree in a public health, medical or social field related to the technical work of WHO or a degree in a management-related or administrative field. Fluent in the working language of the office of assignment.
