Faculty Micro Grants
for faculty- Description
Faculty Micro Grants support Northwestern faculty who are currently mentoring medical students in the Area of Scholarly Concentration program. The Institute for Global Health offers up to $2,500 to support travel and other modest expenses related to global health research.
- Eligibility
- Any full-time Northwestern faculty member who is currently mentoring a student in the Area of Scholarly Concentration program may apply.
- Application Deadline
- Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
Global Health Experience Awards
for students- Description
Support for Feinberg students to pursue clinical electives, research and public health projects at our Affiliated global partner sites and global sites in low- and middle-income countries. The application is available to students who have been approved for rotations by the Institute for Global Health, through the Feinberg Global Health Elective Canvas course.
- Eligibility
Current Feinberg students enrolled in the MD, DPT, PA and MPH dual-degree program who wish to conduct clinical electives, Area of Scholarly Concentration research and/or public health field experiences for four to eight weeks in low- and middle-income countries.
- Application Deadline
- Applications are accepted on a rolling bases. Applications must be received at minimum 60 days prior to proposed travel date and 90 days for unaffiliated sites.
Global Health Experience Funding for Residents and Fellows
for residents & fellows- Description
Support for McGaw residents to pursue clinical electives, research and public health projects at global sites in low- and middle-income countries. Feinberg's Institute for Global Health supports global health education for Feinberg residents who display an interest in global health and working with underserved populations in resource-limited settings. The application is available to residents who have been approved for the elective rotation by the Institute for Global Health and McGaw. Please contact Sara Caudillo (sara.caudillo@northwestern.edu) in order to receive a link to the online funding application.

Current McGaw residents, for four to eight weeks of field experiences in low- and middle-income countries.
- Application Deadline
- Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Funding is applied as a reimbursement after return from travel.
Long-Term Global Health Projects
for students- Description
Funding for long-term global health projects is available from the Institute for Global Health to support student engagement in global health and to encourage student interest in and understanding of cross-cultural competencies, social determinants of health and clinical practice in resource-limited settings, among other topics.

Current Feinberg students entering their second or third year of the curriculum.

Post-Graduate Fellowship in Global Health
for residents & fellows- Description
- This GME fellowship is meant to provide a viable career track to post-graduate medical trainees at Feinberg School of Medicine by promoting innovative global health research and education/training programs. The fellowship will provide salary support and fringe benefits for one year plus a research seed grant up to $10,000.
- Eligibility
- Fellows/post-docs need to be already enrolled in a current post-graduate fellowship program at Feinberg and have completed at least one but no more than three years of post-residency training by the proposed start date of the funding period. Fellows/postdocs from programs supported by the McGaw Medical Center are eligible to apply.
- Application Deadline
- All application materials due Feb. 1.
Rural Medicine Funding
for residents & fellows- Description
Feinberg residents and fellows enrolled in the Education Centered Medical Home (ECMH) and who have electives available in Phase 2 and Phase 3 of the curriculum are eligible to apply for a rural medicine away elective. We review all applications for credit-worthiness.

Feinberg residents and fellows enrolled in the ECMH who have electives available in Phase 2 and Phase 3 and who plan to rotate at a rural or limited-resource location.
